Let’s talk about fundamentals: The Fermi Paradox

Articles

The universe is unimaginably vast, with billions of galaxies, each containing billions of stars and planets. Given the sheer number of potentially habitable worlds, many scientists believe that extraterrestrial life — perhaps even intelligent civilizations — should exist. Yet, despite decades of searching, we have found no definitive evidence of alien life. This contradiction is known as the Fermi Paradox, named after physicist Enrico Fermi, who once asked a famous question: “Where’s everybody”?

To learn more about the problem of searching for extraterrestrial civilizations, we suggest starting with this paradox and its possible solutions, which are fundamental concepts in SETI issue. To do this, we bring to your attention an article from “The Planetary Society” organization that will inform you in a relaxed manner about the basic concepts of this paradox, as well as about its solution and application to modern searches. The article will provide an opportunity to speculate about our possible relationship (or its absence) with extraterrestrial civilizations and how to relate to the fact that we may actually be alone in the universe.
